What is the IMO?
IMO – the International Maritime Organization – is the United Nations specialized agency with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine and atmospheric pollution by ships. The agency brings together different countries and organisations that are interested in shipping.
IMODOCS is an abbreviation used for documents submitted by member states, intergovernmental organisations, and non-governmental organisations having consultative status with the IMO.
With the challenges facing the shipping industry, it is important that more and more young people are aware of and involved in IMO activities. We are partnering up with YoungShip to get the message out there. YoungShip is an international association of young professionals in shipping. It aims to engage, inspire, and promote young professionals to join the maritime industry for future roles and leadership. Members of YoungShip can access the IMODOCS related to autonomous ships via this page.
